
Our annual International Curatorial Residency brings together five influential curators from around the world to spend five days immersed in the ethos and programming of Hauser & Wirth Somerset, to share knowledge and to create new opportunities and connections for the cultural sector.

A talk with artist Shinique Smith who was featured as part of the exhibition, ‘Revolution in the Making: Abstract Sculpture by Women, 1947 – 2016’ at Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles.

On the occasion of Larry Bell’s exhibition ‘New Work’ at Hauser & Wirth London, we join the artist with Dr Cliff Lauson, Director of Exhibitions at Somerset House, to discuss Bell’s brand-new works from his most recent Deconstructed Cube series and his Open Box series.

We joined curator Hannah Higham of the Henry Moore Foundation, Mary Moore, the artist’s daughter and Neil Wilkin, curator of ‘The World of Stonehenge’ exhibition at the British Museum for a conversation celebrating ‘Henry Moore. Sharing Form.’ Moderated by writer and journalist Alastair Sooke, the talk discusses Moore’s seminal visit to Stonehenge in 1921 and its continued influence, as well as the exhibition’s themes addressing the power of form and our relationship between art and the human experience.

On the occasion of Hauser & Wirth Publishers’ recent release of ‘Marcel Duchamp,’ we joined writer and curator Helen Molesworth, and Los Angeles based artists Harry Dodge and Cauleen Smith for an exciting talk about the landmark publication, as well as the life and work of Marcel Duchamp. In addition, the event commenced with a live reading of Duchamp's ‘The Creative Act’ by filmmaker, artist and writer Miranda July.

On the occasion of ‘Anj Smith: Where the Mountain Hare has Lain,’ we joined the artist, Alexander V. Petalas, the Founder, The Perimeter, London and Yates Norton, Curator at the Roberts Institute of Art in conversation.

On the occasion of the exhibition ‘Matthew Day Jackson. Flowers, Windows and Thistles’ on view at Hauser & Wirth in Zurich, we joined artist Matthew Day Jackson and Hauser & Wirth Director of Special Projects, Randy Kennedy for a live virtual walkthrough and conversation on Zoom.

On the occasion of his first solo exhibition in Hong Kong, artist Nicolas Party is in conversation with art and culture journalist Aaina Bhargava to discuss his exploration into the complex and ever-changing relationship between man and nature, ‘sampling’ in the context of the confluence of sources he draws from, and the evolution of his distinctive aesthetic.

The International Curatorial Residency 2019, ‘Curating Private Art Collections’, coincided with the exhibition ‘Unconscious Landscape. Works from the Ursula Hauser Collection’ and presented five curators who oversee international private collections. The programme culminated in a public symposium entitled ‘Curating Private Art Collections’.
